Those “7-eleven” graphics are all-time classics imo. Not sure if they sold any more Big-Gulps, but iconic nonetheless.

Coors beer and 7-11. Still like Coors but in Texas it's Shiner Bock.
I'm much more likely to purchase cycling products that are endorsed by members of this forum.

Not so much anymore. I do not have tv reception, almost never listen to a radio, and have ad blocker apps. The only flyers I ever look at are local grocery store weekly's. Though I am not in buying mode, I still look at bikes and bike stuff here, Ebay and local craigslist. Actually have never made a c'list purchase.

I bought Colavita oil when they sponsored the Jamis continental pro team. At the time I sold Jamis and rode a Jamis bike, so I thought it was cute to use 'their' oil.
An acquaintance rode for The Peanut Butter Co's team. It helps that they make some of the best PB I've ever tasted (and I'm a peanut butter fiend), but staring at the back of her jersey mile after mile didn't bias my purchasing decisions against them either. I love the words 'Jelly Belly' plastered across the front of a bunch of 135 pound beanpole bellyless cyclists, but I don't eat them. BUT I did sell a TON of them at a toy store I used to manage! BUT I don't think my customer's purchasing decisions were affected by the fact that JB sponsors a cycling team. To be honest, most of the time I have no idea what service or products the sponsors actually provide. They seem to be mostly based in Europe (and I'm in the USA), or perhaps just outside of the scope of my narrow lifestyle. |

I dunno if advertising had much to do with it, in some cases yes, but in many cases just normal life here:
I'm sure there are many many more. When I think of em I'll add to the list.

We rented cars from Europcar a bunch of times when they still sponsored a team, mostly in Italy.

Without having read all the way through this thread to see if anyone else has said this, but for me the best advertising for bike stuff is by far what all of you say on this Forum and on VSalon. That is what gets me started typically.
I do recall once seeing some interesting handlebar tape on a Team Sky bike and hunting it down. Was some diamond patterned Pinarello Most tape. So yeah, I guess the bike racing websites, mainly Cycling News and Inner Ring, occasionally have some influence on purchases. But those aren't ads either. So actual bike advertising? No, hasn't influenced me too much. Last edited by tv_vt; 01-24-2023 at 03:56 PM. |

Has advertising worked on me? Not as well as write-ups on the forums. I hate this place...

If I ever win the lottery the first thing I do is throw down a deposit on an ineos grenadier, steel wheels and 3 lockers.
