Bearing removal from an Alex wheel

The bearing needs to come out in order to remove the freehub assembly from the hub. The non drive side was easy, it had a "lip" available to push from. The drive side has like a 1mm lip that is difficult to contact. I believe the drive side bearing must come out to remove the freehub body, which appears to be similar to Shimano using a big 14mm? allen key. The 14mm key does not fit through the non-drive side of the hub. These are Devox branded rims, Felt's house private label. The Alex # is BRD-50812N

Why do you need the free hub off? A blind bearing puller is the right tool for the job. I have a set like this and it has worked well for hubs and a host of other bearings.

That kit looks super! The freehub likely needs to be replaced, or at least Phil Wooded to quiet it down. It's quite noisy when freewheeling.

Blind hole bearing puller, inexpensive @ Harbour Freight if you needed it yesterday.

Hope you mean oil, not grease..grease and pawls=sticky pawls=one sticks down and breaking one/more likely..

Try a long 12mm allen key from the nondriveside. There allen key flats visible in there, highly unlikely you need to remove the FHB bearing.

Yes did mean oil. Wussed out and took to a local shop as I didn't want to buy a puller to use 1x. The rest of my stuff is Shimano and I actually prefer their hubs related to bearings, loose ball, vs. cartridge. I tried a 12, 13, 14mm long allen and none would fit. Very strange as I would assume most Overseas stuff to be metric. Oh well, I work, and just will pay the bill and move on.

I did contact Felt, they were not interested in warranty since I bought third handed. They did give me Alex's information contact, which they have failed to respond to my 3 attempts.

Shimano hubs are a peach to service compared to these things, but then again with the right tool....
