Is this cassette worn??

Im incredibly bad at looking at a cassette and telling you if its worn or not.

I got a (used) campy super record 11s cassette for a build and I know the previous bike it was on (different chain) did not skip.

i put a fresh chain on and while taking it for a test ride, its skipping under load in the 6th and 7th gear if you count from the smallest cog. Im only able to produce the skipping if im in the SMALL ring and going up a hill. Rings are not worn, but i put up a picture anyway.

Is Campy 11 finicky to setup maybe? this is my first 11spd build.

Disregard the flakes all over the place. This is a freshly waxed chain and I havent cleaned it up yet.

I would say it looks like it is just getting broke in.

It does not look worn but experience tells me its hard to look at a cassette and see that its worn sometimes unless obvious.

6 7 th gear would be around where a cassette gets the most usage on my bikes so its usually there somewhere the skipping starts for me.

Man this is annoying.. An lightly used cassette is already useless because of a couple gears.

Im certainly not saying its shot. Just that it may not be as easy as looking at a cassette always.

Appears the smaller cogs are worn and I would bet the chain jumps/skips when in those gears. Those typically are used more so wear out first.

Chainrings look fine.

Largest 6 cogs are titanium, IIRC. These will wear faster than steel.

You need a new middle cluster... or run the old chain...

Yes, in my experience, the smallest Ti cog is the first to skip.

Chorus is all steel, right. That's the way to go. Will cost you 3 grams or so in weight

No one can look at sprockets and pronounce them worn out. If a new chain skips on the sprockets, they are technically worn out, but any chain with even a few hundred break in miles will work just fine. This is one reason I alternate the use of several chains, so I never get new-chain skip.

Ti cogs wear out quickly. Campy no longer offers Ti cogs with 12 speed.
