There wasn't enough clearance between the crank and chainstay on my MTB to mount my Wahoo cadence sensor in the typical location (inside of the crankarm). Didn't want to mount it on my shoe either. |

Used Wahoo BlueSC speed & cadence for a long time, always very reliable (except for the couple of times it got knocked out of place, instantly fixed). I put the separate Wahoo speed and cadence sensors on another bike and have liked them so much that I've replaced the BlueSC with another set and am donating the BlueSC to my brother.
No complaints about the older unit, just prefer not having magnets. Still have one on the trainer. For all these sensors the batteries last me about a year (6-7k miles). |

Speed and cadence? Needn't be GPS..and needn't be expensive.
Didn't see the gent mention 'power' measurement. https://www.cateyeamerica.com/Strada...Cdc-CC-RD410DW

On my road bike I use a SRM for cadence and the Garmin GPS for speed.
On my mountain bike where the GPS does not do a good job of tracking I use a Cycleops speed sensor on the hub. |

Bike computer free forever! Five years ago I took off all that stuff. Quit riding in groups where you needed to know how fast you where going to make everybody happy. Been over all the routes around my town and know the distance and don't care how fast I'm going. I'm no longer a slave to my computer and I'm free, free, free.

I had a Garmin speed sensor attached to my front hub. Bluetooth. Used in conjunction with smartphone and the rwgps app. Speed would constantly drop out, then come back, then drop out. Useless. I only installed it because GPS would occasionally fail and then you wouldn't get speed or distance.
Replaced it with a similar Wahoo unit. One big difference: it works. No drop outs whatsoever. Amazing that Garmin can't make a simple unit like this that just works. |

Suunto. Got it to hack my Lemond Revolution which worked out.
I just put it on to try with a Kurt Kinetic Road Machine and the Kinetic Fit iOS app. The app picks it up right away, only gives speed and cadence of course. Transmits ANT and Bluetooth. https://www.suunto.com/en-ca/Product...o-Bike-Sensor/ Nice to just use my phone instead of having to go out and buy another device. |

Is wahoo the best option for shoe mount?

I actually wonder if swapping so much using the same computer is the real problem. But even if I "clear them out" in the Edge 800 they still don't re-pair. Yet while having the computer in pair mode it'll pick up the sensor on another bike passing me while not the garmin unit on the bike I'm on. Makes it sound like an issue with the sensor to me. |

Same experience here.
