More "analysis" than necessary...but good slo-mo. Looks like just really unlucky timing on moving his hands on the bars relative to road irregularity. I suspect many of us have hit an unseen bump in the road and nothing other than a scare happend because both hands were secure on the bars. Had one hand been off the bars, or the bars had not been equally weighted, the result could be a lot different. Bummer for Lopez.

I've wrecked this way before - sitting up, one hand on the bars, hit a rock that wasn't called out by the person in front. Unlike Lopez, I wasn't going Mach 3 and I wasn't on a TT bike. Really sucks.

I forget who it was but someone in the TDF crashed running into a water bottle dropped thrown by a rider in front of them. I think they were looking around and it read too late to do anything once they made contact.

And he probably made it up Mt. Etna faster than I would.

First 'Mountain' stage today..it's raining. Some in the pelOton, jackets, some with vests and arm warmers, some with arm warmers...and some with nothing but jersey..

curious how they go down hill w/o this stuff, being wet and don't get cold..

23 KM to go..5 off the front, wet day and....4 of the 5 on rim brakes..
