11 Speed Super Record Ultrashift guts better than the rest?
Are the guts (and body) of the 11 speed (pre and post 2015) Super Record Ultrashift levers any better than Record, Chorus or Athena?
If they are, what parts are different? Does SR actually shift smoother and more precisely? And I believe the blades are still interchangeable among the other groups? |

The only difference between 2009-2014 and 2015+ is the take up spool on the back is white, rather than black. The brake blades and shift lever blades are cross compatible with US and PS.. To include 2009+ 10s levers..Centaur and Veloce... Left to right.. 10s Centaur, 11s, 2009-2014 SR/Record/Chorus, 2015+ SR/Record/Chorus

Thanks Old Potatoe.
If you don't care about what the lever/ blade looks like then cheaper is the way to go. |

just to clarify, you could just purchase the black spool to put in a 2014 lever to make it compatible with the 2015+ derailleur?

NOTHING towards BarnabyJones AT ALL..but I hear ALL the time that if these 11s(and now 12s) levers break(and the innards are VERY robust)..that ya gotta buy a whole assembly...from LBS' that call themselves 'Pro' shops and even 'Campagnolo' Pro Shops. NOT TRUE..the only thing I have seen 'break' or fail on these is broken shift lever blades and thumb button pivots rust so much that they don't pivot. I have stock of both along with the stuff to convert early 10s levers to 11s... Rant over...

So the white and black spool are geometrically identical?
