50g / insert

Not too bad, but not trivial, if the tire is, say, 400g-500g

add a few ounces of sealant and these and you're back up to the weight of a tube

Seems 'wrong' somehow

Cush core for gravel? Does it come in a bundle with flat bars?

I wonder how much the air pressure can be reduced? If I normally run gravel tires at 35 psi how low can I go? When would ride quality/ rolling resistance start to be an issue? Just curious

Yeah but it’s almost impossible to flat even running low pressures. Can’t say that about a tube. Anyways, these aren’t for me. Only way I could ever see running them would be on a gravel rig with big 50mm+ tires for some serious shredding.

But, for the same weight as a tube you gain no pinch flats, the ability to run lower pressures, better cornering support, and less chance of damage to your rims. That seems worth the trade-off to me.

Do these really provide support for the rim or is this marketing speak? I can’t imagine putting a sponge between my front bumper and a parking block is provide much benefit but maybe I’m wrong?

I'm not sure if you mean rim "support," in which case the review says they provide "improved tire support while cornering as a result of the insert reinforcing the tire casing." Or do you mean rim "protection," which they definitely provide (based on my experience using a similar product on a mtb).

Man, tubeless tires do not give you permission to ram your bike into potholes and stop steering. It does allow you to run lower pressures, eliminate pinch flats and small to moderate punctures. 100% marketing here. This is for gravel or mixed terrain, not a mountain bike rock garden. Save your money and grams.

I can see how these make sense for mtn riding especially with takeoffs, landings, and missed ruts. These will add a bit more protection for the rim and make the ride a bit more cushy.

However, I fail to see how they will do anything for the volume and abuse level for a gravel bike. There are really not very many times when one wheel is off the ground and almost never with both.

My use case scenario would be for maintaining control of the bike when I'm descending on gravel (or even road) if I get a flat that doesn't seal.
