He's Was First!
No tie in.
I just quoted where he said he was first in everything. He's brash, but again, it's his job to be a salesman of his brand. More power to him. |

I believe that only the glued together tube and lug models are made in Italy. My C- RS is made in Taiwan.

Lawn Chair Looks
So this is the pinnacle of bicycle making right here folks.
The squared tubing makes it looks a bit industrial. It ain't pretty but I would like to ride it to see how it felt. |

I absolutely love my Colnagos - LOVE THEM.
But wouldn't the Look frames of the mid-80's be the 1st full carbon frames that people actually rode?

Exactly. I read the article a couple days ago. My thoughts were "Wow, I admire the guy for his passion and energy, especially at the age of 88". I've got a lot of respect for the old maestros who built the great bikes with their hands and grew a business by teaching apprentices the craft. I must say, I have less enthusiasm for the brands that are simply a name that farms out all the work and spouts the "we MAKE the world's best bikes" crap.

I thought it was Assos with the first carbon frame, and then Kestrel was the first mainstream one.

Yea but those looks were made by a company called TVT if I recall correctly. You would see TVT bikes under several brands including Pinerello.

The TVT frames were just carbon tubes, held together by alloy lugs, not full carbon frames.

As to the Colnago article...I only owned one Colnago a Master X-Lite. I bought a new frame back in 2002 & built it with with Campy Chorus. It was a very nice ride. I kind of wish I kept it now but.....at the time weight weenie-ism attraction was strong |

He's rightfully proud and his carbon bikes have the palmares to back him up. 1996 Paris Roubaix - three C40s if I recall correctly.

he's earned every accolade, his own and from others.
very few can match his company's pedigree and evolution. |

People take Colnago and his ilk to task for no other reason than they grew the business on their terms rather than stay the independent and holed-up makers they assume frame builders should be. I think we all stand on this guy's shoulders, regardless of when we arrived or what window we came in through. ps arrange disorder
