Pacenti built Match
Hello, the other day there was a Pacenti fix gear in the classified section, and there was talk of Kirk Pacenti not building his own frames. Iam curious as well, because i have a Hampsten. Here is the story on it. I bought my Hampsten Cinghiale used, it is welded steel serial #ah140 and a sticker that says "Match Built." I belive Match was in Seattle and was building for other people as well such as Schwinn Paramount, and Rivendell around 1998 through 2002 ? So who was working for Match? I have heard Curt Goodrich, Kirk Pacenti, and David Kirk all worked for Match but have never been able to verify this.
So, can anyone verify who worked for Match, who did Match build frames for, and how long were they in business? Also as far as my Hampsten could anyone help date it? It has a 1" steer tube and came with a Alpha carbon fork and Chris King head set it is a Pumpkin orange, and it is welded but the rear drop out are lugged. It is a wonderful ride who ever built it regardless just curious since I saw the Pacenti name. Take care everyone enjoy the weather before summer is gone. |

Curt Goodrich provides some history of match bicycle company here:
http://www.curtgoodrich.com/about/history/ There was a thread here a while back about where builders had worked previously that I think listed the match contingent, but am not sure I can find it. (HA! Jeff beat me to it while I was typing...) P.S. I have a newer Cinghiale Pro built by IF, and the description in the web page mentioned that it was an homage to the original match-built CP's (the model has since by re-retired by Hampco). A little more detail here: http://www.hampsten.com/company Last edited by happycampyer; 08-28-2010 at 03:42 PM. |
