Deda 7.9 tubeset

Question for the Deda dealers/frame builders/experts:

Has anyone heard that a frame built w/a 7.9 tubeset can NOT have bottle cage bosses on the ST because the tubeset is so thin? If so, has anyone seen a "technical letter" distributed by Deda (to builders using the 7.9 tubes) making such claims?

If anyone knows of a US builder using these tubes? If so, who? Thanks in advance.

I have one on order from Casati - all the pictures only show one cage. Crap. I didn't know that... morebefore and after rides I guess. -Matt

My un-named Italian builder sent a custom 7.9 frame to me w/no ST bosses. In his online & print catalog the bike clearly shows ST bosses. But, he said Deda issued a Tech Letter to all of their 7.9 builders stating the tube was too thin to add bottle bosses to the ST (therefore nullifying the Deda warranty if you added bosses). I asked to see the letter but have been stonewalled.

Leaves me to believe he possibly forgot the bosses and does not want to hassle with the expense & time to fix it. If you eliminate the ability to add a second bottle cage to a race frame, you might disclose that as its pretty common for bikes to have two cages unless they are specific discipline frames.

Hopefully someone here has experience building w/7.9 tubes and can elaborate.

the builder's right. dedacciai does not recommend installing rivets into that seattube. he could have replaced that tube with an sc61.10 tube if he knew it was important to you.

if you really want to, any bike shop can rivet bosses into the frame for you; but i wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks for the info. I wonder why he markets the 7.9 frame w/ST bosses? He'll need to answer that one.
