When I worked construction one summer, all the full time guys wore White's Boots....I was a college kid and didn't plan on doing it for the rest of my life, so I got by with a pair of Danner hiking boots (that I already had)....

Multiple pairs of Danners. The real stitch down sole made in USA kind. Nothing better in my mind. I love the support, protection and stability.

I have a pair of redwings from ‘94 I still wear from time to time. They are not restorable from leather cuts and non resolable soles, but they still work!

Recently bought a pair of whites moc toe and and they are just awesome. I don’t think I’ll ever need another pair they are built so well.

Danner, Made in USA, steel toes, leather uppers, slip resistant, 6". I'm hard on boots due to my job, so I get 16-18 months out of a pair before the soles are bald. There's a Danner store here in town that carries the ones I like in stock so that makes it really easy when it's time. I got 12 months from the last few pairs of Wolverines which cost almost as much. Unfortunately, Redwings and Timberlands don't fit my feet right.

I love my whites, I have 3 pairs. Two are in regular circulation, one for climbing the other for everything else. The third pair got a dozen wears before I broke my foot and and now they don’t fit .

Anyone need a pair over overbuilt 10.5 (labeled 9.5) work boots?

Most leather shoes/boots will last for quite a few more wearings/miles if they get a day off between wearings. It might save you some money over the years if you had two pairs of boots in a rotation rather than wearing the same pair every day. The leather likes to dry out after a sweaty day on the job or trail.

I've worked in the construction industry for 42 years, from field work to facilities operations to supervision and management. I wore Red Wing 875s for years. Resole once or maybe twice & replace. My last two pairs of work boots have been White's. Currently wearing the Perry, White's equivalent to the 875. Resoled once so far and going strong. The crepe soles wear fast but are comfy when you need to be on your feet. So far I prefer these to the 875s. My other pair of White's is the Foreman lace-to-toe, a bit more substantial and another very strong performer.

IMO you can't go wrong with either the White's or Red Wing 875.

Is the fit similar size wise?

875’s are ok, not available in steel toe. I have a pair in r&t copper. 1/2 a size down, so probably same as whites.

I would say anything pnw is the top end. White’s or Nick’s will last for years.

All are and made with top quality leathers ad can be resoled with Goodyear welts.

usa made danners and I have 3 pair of Whites (I am 200 miles from them). I even have a pair of White dress oxfords. best Whites that I have had for probably 20 years are a pair of the Centennial hikers lost track of how many times I have had White resole them.
