Us C&V folks have been secretly accumulating bits for years.

I heard from a reliable source that Rene Herse is working on electronic shifting that uses vacuum tubes. Because, ya know, it's more analog.

IMO, if you like mechanical systems I would buy parts. I would say you don't have to rush out and buy parts right this second, but they will be dwindling. Campy especially. With unique chainrings and other parts that no (or few) 3rd party manufacturers support once critical parts sell through there won't be any more. Campy used be very good keeping a stash of old parts to keep older kits running, but I find it is rare now to easily find certain critical parts for kits only a few years old. Hell, there are some Shimano and SRAM parts that are getting tough to find.

You can even find 10 speed on Amazon. PBK has em for a hair over $40 bucks a pop.

There are Veloce 13-29 cassettes available, and not for too much money:

Was anyone else wondering what these Dura Ace 10s DT shifters would fetch? Seems like the hoarding is well underway.

Yes, I think I have two...which means I'm about two short of what I need

A couple years ago I put aside a SR12 group (rim brakes) for my Bishop all-roads bike that will be done this spring. Really wanted to do DM brakes after seeing a couple of his bikes with them in the past few years but I don't think they'll clear a 35mm tire like what he's doing for me. Going with grand crus in black. They look pretty good with the rest of the group.

Whenever I’ve see any 11 speed DA or record at a reasonable price, I’ve bought it.

Right now we are at the bottom of the price curve, or close to it. It will only become harder to find and more expensive from here on out.

I have four or five complete 11sp DA 9000/9100 groups spare. I would like one or two Campy 2015+ Record 11 but they seem to be much harder to source here in Australia. I really regret not buying a group when Merlin had them at very good prices brand new.

I’m fairly committed to the bikes I have and would like to get as much use out of them as I can. As I see it, the gear I’ve got ensures I can ride them for at least 10-15 years based on how much I ride.

I feel more comfortable about sourcing cassettes and chains for some time, and am not hoarding - just keep a few on hand so I can use as required.

As long as there are enough of of us out here (I'm on 10 and 11 sp SRAM) buying parts, somebody will make them. I assume there will come a time that the big 3 will stop manufacturing their own, but I can't imagine KMC, Sunrace, etc. will stop if there's still demand. You can still get parts for 8 and 9 speed drivetrains, so I wouldn't worry about it happening in my lifetime (or at least the lifetime of these bikes).

Now if you're a stickler for only having first party components in your drivetrain... Yeah no time like the present I guess.

I'm more interested in keeping my Pegs and Kirk adorned with parts for the next 15 years or so
15 years ago was 2008...last year of Campagnolo 10s, 2009, first year of 11s.

Can ya find Campagnolo 10s 'stuff' out there? Yes, even 9s and OMG, even 8s 'stuff'.

I think the biggest 'concern' would be rim brake 'stuff'..like calipers, pads, hubs, rims, wheels. The only really 'big things' that your Kirk and Peg would need.

Even as the 'industry falls willy-nilly into the disc brake black hole...and has for 4-5 years...still lots of rim brake 'stuff' pay there and will be for 15 years, I would 'guess'.

Rims, hubs, calipers, pads...
