Don't mean to be rude, but that bike is god awful ugly. Which is ok because that sort of stuff is personal, so I let go.

but this company has the most miserably unfortunate name ever. Kú (actually "cu") means "anus" in Portuguese. But not the polite one, more like an insult.

Now I have to bleach my eyes and mourn this company's lack of a proper marketing department. Double whammy of horrible aesthetics and poor choice of name, this company takes the cake. am sure it's a nice bike, but come on.

Re:

The rake looks exaggerated because the head tube is vertical. Ugly.

Looking at the fork clearance out front makes me wonder if they're going to market it for gravel TT's.

I appreciate the pursuit of excellence, even if it is ugly. I wonder how it rides and if it is really much faster in real world conditions.

Makes me thankful the UCI is uptight and has rules about this sort of thing

Not trying to defend the name (and certainly not the bike, that they state will "change the sport forever"), but according to them the brand name is "Greyhound" in Gaelic, hence the stylized Greyhound as the company "symbol" - "the fastest dog in the world."

They even go so far as to trace the etymology of the word (the whole web site is too cluttered):
From Old Irish cú (“dog, hound”),
from Proto – Celtic * ku (compare Welsh ci),
from Proto – Indo – European * ḱwṓ (“dog”).

Pronunciation
IPA(key): /ku/
Noun
cú m or f (genitive singular cú or con, nominative plural cúnna or coin.
And they finish with a button linking to a Google pronunciation of the english word "Coup."

On a purely esthetic point of view, not the worse TT bike i've seen.
I believe the Diamondback one from a couple years ago was far worse

I think I understand the idea, but the Lotus/Hope track bike does it with far better aesthetics:

A candidate for the Ugly Bike thread.

Is that saddle unusual, or does it just look that way because it's on top of a black mass of U-G-L-Y?

Some recent reflection and a talk with a maker friend have got me thinking about myself, internet comment culture and the term constructive criticism.

It is so easy to broadcast ourselves to the world right now, often times in the safety on anonymity. We don't really get to see how these comments effect the person they are directed at and it is letting us get away with really bad behavior.

There is a good chance the people involved in this project will read this thread someday, perhaps we can offer some constructive criticism instead of insults. If we can't do that than perhaps we can limit ourselves to the types of comments we would feel comfortable saying directly to the designers face.

Plenty of clearance up front, the rear not so much. Imagine getting a rock caught up between the tire and frame on that bike on a gravel road...

I think as far as tri/tt bikes go its far from the worst looking bike I've seen... the Diamondback from a couple years ago still takes that award IMO. I like the design of how the brake is integrated into the fork, it transitions well with the fork angle... still, I don't have any inclination towards road discs.

No, we know it comes from Greek!

"cu" from the Greek "kulos" for "running dog."

There you go.

Sorry, totally made this up. My oldest son is marrying a Greek girl, and we've been forced to watch _My Big Fat Greek Wedding_ many times over.
