fender hardware on an old race frame

Does anyone have a source for rear fender attachment on a 90's race frame?
I currently have small rubber coated p-clamps on the rear triangle.
They are not quite the right shape to hold the tail end fender stable.
Is there a source for a hardware connector that is solidly secure?
Thanks much.

VO has multiple sizes of p clamps. I’d get a few sets and try it out. Don’t think you’re gonna find a better option. The one alternative I know about is to mount the struts to the wheel axle, but I don’t like that solution since you have to remove the axle every once in a while.

If you could explain why your current clamps won't fit, or provide pictures, that may help us find you a better solution.

P-clamps usually do the job. Maybe buy the next size up clamp and wrap underneath with electrical tape. That would help the clamp form to an odd profile.

If you have a classic steel frame these might work for you.

Axiom Axle Runners do a decent job, they’re neatly threaded and solid. For one of my old road bikes they were the only option as the curved-blade carbon fork couldn’t take a p-clamp. They are a lot cleaner-looking than p-clamps, I just don’t know why the mfr chose to only make them in red!

Correctly-sized p-clamps work perfectly when they fit - I’ve always been able to find them in hardware stores too, but the nut/bolt aspect of setup is swear-inducing, even when reattaching a set of fenders you’ve already fitted to the bike…

Stainless P-Clamps with wide metal sections and full size recessed rubber parts are best. If you need the cache Nitto actually sell some but some quick searching will yield quality pairs for less than $16 ea.

Not cheap but good reference if nothing else. I've bought some bizarre things from them.

I have a similar set of these sitting in a drawer from back in the day. I believe they were made by Blackburn, worked really well, I actually used them to put a rack on a race frame for an overnight camping trip. It's great to see that they are still available and made in the USA.

A sweet idea! Now I just have to remember it for the future.

Thanks all

I've ordered some new p-clamps, hope I can make them work better this time around. The gizmo from R&E won't work on my dropout, it has a much larger opening than the one in the picture.
Thanks!

Another source of very nice clamps is tubus:

Kinda overkill for fenders, and probably expensive, but they are clean-looking!

Thanks these worked great, just had to drill out for larger bolt diameter.
