Record 12 fd fail

Lost my front derailleur’s ability to shift into small ring the other day.

I just figured the cable went slack and decided to tighten it after the ride. Nothing was rubbing and I only had one little hill left on my ride.

When I had a chance to examine further, there is not spring in the derailleur at all, it is not loaded.

That’s a new one on me. So do I have to remove it to reload it? Is it hard to do?

i havent done it on record 12, but in my experience, ive used a small flathead screwdriver as leverage to hook the spring back onto the cage. Shouldnt be hard to do at all.

Not sure why it would have unseated itself like that though.. weird.

Campy has had issues with the little tab the spring rests against to pull the derailleur back down to the small ring. It breaks off Contact your LBS and it should be covered under warranty if it's not too old.

What he said, and even tho you bought it 'here', I'd still contact Campagnolo, NA.
I've seen one other where that 'tab' broke off...

ott@campagnolona.com

Jerry, tell him I sent ya.

when you get another derailleur you will want t route the cable correctly. Goes on the other side of the bolt over that little tab
