Praxis 48/32 with Shimano 11/34 work ok?

I've totally worn my drive train on my Ottrot and thinking about turning it into a bike I can do some of the steeper climbs. I am thinking Praxis 48/32 carbon crankset with R8000 Shimano group 11/34 with GS rear derailleur. Will that work ok?

If the FD is braze on you should make sure that you have the ability to lower it for the smaller chainrings.

As long as that works, this setup should be amazing.

My Giant Revolt Advanced 0 also comes with this setup as stock. Same crank, same cassette, and an Ultegra RX RD.

The point about making sure the braze-on is low enough to take the small 32 chainring is good.

Have had a less than pleasurable experience with Praxis BB's. They remind me of the old bullseyes. Lasted like one week and although they did replace them, I sold my cranks and went back to Shimano whose bb's are lasting me a few years. To me there whole set up is janky with the washers/seals etc. Just my experience. I would go GRX to get those kind of ratios.

There's always a tradeoff. My Praxis BB has been great. GRX puts your chainline too far out for a 130mm rear end, i.e. rim brakes., and the looks are... questionable.

Shimano 11 speed RDs will easily handle the SRAM 11-36 cassette, also, if you're in the hunt for even more range.

I've been thinking about this as well, but on a new build. I think there are issues going with internal wiring and a BSA bottom bracket. Don't suppose anyone knows about this?

on my Di2 Roubaix

Praxis 48/32 front, 11-36 rear. Flawless. No extra parts required. FD is a little higher than spec but still works like a champ. Like.

That's great to hear. I'm in two minds as to whether I should spec a brazed front mech hanger, with regard to the difference in height. Will take a look into the praxis specs.

Oh, perhaps not. Looks like specialized use a larger bottom bracket standard. It's all a bit confusing.

mid range Roubaix

use a normal BSA screw in bottom bracket. Praxis makes a bottom bracket that works easily and perfectly. The confusion can be that the spindle on Shimano cranks is 24mm and the spindle on Praxis is 30mm. But the Praxis BB solves the problem. Higher end Roubaix I think uses press fit and I have no clue about setting that up and don't want to know.
