Hirame chuck question

I have been through several Jaco presta pump heads that I use on my inflator connected to a compressor. They work ok for a few months and then start leaking making them worthless.
So I am looking for something more reliable.
I was looking at the Hirame or Silca Hiro.
One review I read said that it does not depress the valve when locking it on and because of that it does not work with a pressure gauge. I have a digital gauge on my inflator so that would be a no go. Is this really the case?
Is there any preference for Hirame or Silca? The Silca is on sale right now for 1/2 price at $35. Another thought is to use a Topeak smart head which I have on a floor pump and it has been good.

Thanks

The Silca Hiro works with the pressure gauge on your pump....

I have a Lezyne with the Silca head and the gauge works fine....

Difficult to find a new washer for the Hirame. Not so for the Silca.

That said, I've been using mine for about 10 yrs and am still on the original washer... the Hirame is a great pump head. I'm using it on on old Lezyne that has a gauge. The gauge reads accurately.

If you've got a sticky Presta valve, it does help to push down the valve to free it up before inflating. Otherwise you can get to 150 psi before it pops open. True for other pumps I've used as well, for that matter...

With respect to the Hirame, that claim is false. Had one for 15+ years now and the pump's pressure gauge works fine.

Can't speak to the Silca Hiro.

If the pump head does not depress the valve, then the limitation is that the pump gauge only works if pressure is added to the tire. But if the tire wasn't under-pressur,ized why would you need a pump?

Most high pressure tires will lose a PSI or two overnight, so if you adding a PSI or two to restore the tire pressure, the pump gauge will work fine.

for a compressor? The simpler Prestaflate is my choice.

I have Hirame for both presta and schrader on a decades old Joe Blow and both work fine with the gauge.
I think I bought the presta from someone here.
I got the schrader guts from this site which also sells the gaskets.

My set up is Silca pump and hirame head. Happy days. No experience with digital pressure gauge.

Cheers

There is always the EVT.

Prefer the Hirame to the Silca, tried both.
+1 for the EVT

This simple trick is standard practice for me.

Received the Hiro chuck.
It does not work with my digital inflator.
As soon as I stop putting air in pressure drops.
I suspect since the air is cut off by the inflator the presta valve does not stay open. Anyway it is up for sale in classified’s.
Silca does not accept returns.
