Usually at this time an arctic blast settles in that the ice fisherman rejoice over, making it possible for them to bring the hut out on the lake where they can drink excessive amounts of alcohol and get away from the wives. This weekend will bring 50 degree rain all the way to the Canadian border.

Inasmuch as the weather patterns and related events we are seeing - and have been seeing for some years now - tend to suggest that the climate change science is correct, yes, it's a very bad thing.
(Sorry to be the one to make this 'political' but it is impossible to fairly answer the question posed in the thread title without going there.) |

Bad thing is the rapid freeze which comes during the rain, giving us skating rink roads and high winds. Gonna be a crappy Sunday.

So far in NYC area we have had roughly 0 snow, and as has already been mentioned, it is going to be in the mid 60's on Sunday, that is some craziness right there.

In the Boston area, we had a couple of nice winter storms in December, and I was looking forward to some good skiing. The mountains are going to get whacked with warmth over the weekend and they can't afford to lose much.
Guess I'll be riding in the next 5 days or so, would rather be skiing. |

If you ski, yes.
And for a lot of marriages in Upstate NY, Vermont, and NH.

I assume you mean the descent on old mine. Unless they paved it this summer, it's the same. They did fill some potholes, but that didn't stick. the only improvement is that many of the potholes are so aged that the sides are crumbling, and it's a bit easier to get through them. It's a bit shocking that they never fix that road. I ride with someone that will not ride down that hill. He walks it. One time he told me not to chase him, I would catch him later. So I let him go. Right down at the bottom of the old mine descent, there he was, walking. There is some interesting graffiti

I don't think my bag of driveway salt is going to get much use this winter.
