Anyone else doing the Santa Barbara 100 this weekend?

I've been looking forward to it all season! It's my backyard, but if you need a destination Century, look no further.

I'll be riding (slowly) aboard a grey Look 585 and my helmet is neon green. Say hi! My name is Chris in real life.

If I weren't coming up there in two weeks for the Rapha Prestige I'd consider it, even though my preference is doing OSM/Painted Cave and Gibraltar in the reverse direction. Sending all those people down Painted Cave seems a bit sketchy, but I understand the choice.

I sympathize, but Santa Cruz is pretty damn nice, and -- IMO -- the riding is better there.

Oh man, I was just there! Was with my daughter for a LAX tournament at the Polo grounds and didn’t have my bike. I was looking up in those hills though…enjoy and hope the smoke stays north

In the city now, but there's good riding to be had. Still... SF ain't no SB. Central coast wines are a real hidden gem and I tend to prefer them to NorCal.

I didn't even know the Prestige was a thing in SB. Can't seem to find the route, but a little googling makes it seem like they'll have people do Refugio, Fig, and Gib, over 180k with a lot of gravel. What a beastly ride! And I thought the SB100 was a tough day.

Is that even going to be possible after the fire?

Super good point. My wife drove by Refugio Sunday and said it looked pretty messed up. SB100 only gets to Winchester, but the Rapha route guess that includes Refugio would be affected.

The fire is mostly out I think, certainly contained. Smoke and air quality no longer an issue in town or Goleta, where last week it was up in the 60s.

That was an older route, the Prestige is almost all on the east side of 154 so I believe unaffected by the fire.

I visited SB this summer. I've been telling everyone I know, that's where I'm moving the moment I win the lottery. What a paradise! Can't wait to visit again.
