Recommend me a 2.1-2.4 29er xc tire!

I don’t spend much time shopping XC rubber- I know my enduro tire options forward and backwards, but not XC.

I want a pair of tubeless XC tires 2.1 or bigger, with an almost single-minded focus on rolling speed. Weight, versatility, durability, and price will all of-course factor into the decision, but fast rolling on hard pack to medium dirt is priority numero uno for this use case.

Cheers!

Rekon Race would be my go-to here. Or Fast Trak.

Rolling resistance site puts Conti race kings near the top. Schwalbe Thunder Burts are up there. I like racing Ralph as a compromise fast tire with enough tread. Though I run nobby mics right now.

I’ve had great success with any of the Maxxis “xxx Race” tires. I run the Ardent Race in 2.35in, 120 TPI on my rigid and they’re killer for straight forward XC. They aren’t even terrible on pavement

I have pretty much tried them all, and nothing comes close to the Conti Race King when it comes to rolling speed.

I have been running a Schwalbe Racing Ralph/Racing Ray combo that I really like.

Vittoria xc tires are light and fast rolling. I am running Barzo's on my bike and they rip on hardpack.

Rekon Race is a great semi slick. A bit deeper tread would be an Ardent Race. Ikon falls somewhere in the middle.

Want to buy some lightly used ones? I've got Aspen and Barzos.

In my somewhat limited experience Race Kings are the fastest. They do compromise traction too much for my taste. Yeah, that's the trade-off. Schwalbe for more grip and still roll great. Racing Ralph front and rear or maybe a knobbier partner up front.

Schwalbe

As mtbmoose says, Racing Ralph in back, Racing Ray in front. I've had Continental Race Kings and while they roll fast I was wanting more grip especially in the corners. A bit too much sliding for my tastes.
