I've a lot of good shows in Annapolis, Ramshead Tavern

The Blasters
Junior Brown
Clarence Gatemouth Brown
Los Lobos
Dick Dale

The list goes on

Great venue, I hope they survive the times

We must be neighbors. Rams Head/Bill will survive. Maryland Hall, just a few blocks away, has hosted several good shows the last few years, many in conjunction with Rams Head.

I agree - great place. I imagine that they will survive. That’s a great list of artists - some of whom I need to catch live! Last year I saw Junior Brown there (always amazing!), Los Straitjackets, Bill Kirchen, and Eileen Jewell. I live in Catonsville and did a hot ride to Annapolis and back this morning. 65 miles round trip with a stop at Sofi’s crepes for a refuel.

I randomly heard Mass Appeal by Gang Starr and it's been stuck in my head all morning.

Where the hell have I been? First Junior Kimbrough and Otha Turner...and now RL Burnside! I'm still checking out Gas Man Jones and Sid Hemphill...and.....and....

Thanks for opening my eyes to a world of music that I never knew existed!

My favorite thread for sure.

No such thing as a Gas Man CD or video, AFAIK.

Otha, who had a track in the film Gangs of New York.

Junior Kimbrough and his hypnotic boogie, from the great movie Deep Blues. If you want to find out more about this kind of music, Deep Blues by Robert Palmer is a great place to start.

Sid Hemphill was even older than Otha. They kept the African fife and drum tradition going. Now it's just Sharde, Otha's granddaughter.

Sid's daughter Jessie Mae made some great music as well, until she had a stroke.
