I've posted this before but everytime this RLB song pops up on my playlists it gets stuck in my head for a day or two afterward...

I don't mind though.

I made the mistake of cuing up two of my favorite tracks from the early 1980s last night, and they wound up getting so stuck in my head that I couldn't get to sleep at all!

King Crimson - "Matte Kudasai"

Peter Gabriel - "San Jacinto"

Great selections.

I'll raise you Gabriel's Secret World. Paula Cole on vocals, Tony Levin on bass, the great Manu Katche on drums, Papa Wemba, Jean Claude (wearing the coolest tuxedo ever)... I've seen some concerts in my day, but never one with a phone booth, tree, raft, dome, luggage... The DVD is worth owning if you're a Gabriel fan. San Jacinto is included in the show.

I didn't see that tour. My loss. But I saw a tour a few years earlier where he climbed into a giant ball of what I can only describe as bubble wrap (10-15 feet in diameter), and rolled around the stage in it while singing. And the Blind Boys of Alabama opened the show.

Intro - Come Talk To Me

Final encore - In Your Eyes

Oh yeah, that was the Growing Up tour. I saw that at Madison Square Garden in the early 00s. Great show. Loved the bubble-wrap ball. But seeing him twice on the '86 tour -- once from a private sky box at the Philadelphia Spectrum, thanks Dad! -- were some serious highlights of my youth.

I saw RL several times, mostly in Mississippi. RL, Otha, Big Jack, T-Model, Big George, Terry, Cedric (Burnside), Super Chicken, Pat Thomas, KM...

Drank beer at a gas station with no gas on Sunday morning, used rocks for hammers, had a friend almost pass out on the loading dock of the hospital while they fixed up some shackled prisoners...

Good times.

That's very close to me. Would love to see the Blasters, or Dave Alvin.

Yeah, Jim Dickinson's kids. I've seen them a few times. If you haven't already done so, read the book It Came From Memphis, and get the CD.
