What are we making of scheduling the two home qualifiers this batch of games in the cold and snowy north? Gamesmanship for the Central American teams? Easy travel and less weather whiplash for the middle game in Ontario? Too cute by half when they should just go be the better team and not include wildcard variables like snow?

Poor weather usually favors the lesser team.....imho

The first game to acclimate for conditions in Ontario. Second one to capitalize on adaptations made.

Agree. That's why I would have thought Orlando or something would be better. USMNT should beat these teams absent weird circumstances... like weather.

Then again, the acclimation/travel benefits are probably worth it, and the presence/absence of Tyler Adams probably has a much larger effect than the venue.

I hope that’s couched as a hypothetical and not an assessment of his actual availability?

I thought I had read he was covid positive last week - can't find the reference anymore. Crisis averted. Sorry for panic.

A win is a win - clean sheet (keepers gloves were pretty clean too) - bottom line - got the points.
Cold didnt seem to be a factor.
Robinson needs to keep scoring but forget his gymnastics.

Couldn't watch the game

due to work commitment. How did we look? Seems like we weren't threatened at all?

Offense was anemic, and the substitution baffling. Ferreira scuffed his chances...

Half-shyte. Rhythm a tad off. Difference in quality meant ES couldn’t capitalize on mistakes.

I’d want Aaronson, Weah, and Pepi to start vs Canada.

yup - Agree - why did Ferreira start instead of Pepi?

They had chances in the first half but overall they were pretty mediocre against a minnow (1 win El Salvador didnt even have a shot on goal).
We have a long way to go, but are only 1 point from the top.

Mexico was playing at the same time - I was switching back and forth a bit - They didnt look good either - barely won (2-1) against a Jamaica team that was down a man.

Pepi is out of form

Pepi has gone 12 matches without scoring. What really is weird is that in 2021 he only scored 2 goals outside the state of Texas. ( out of 23 -25 roughly). Only 5 or 6 were not at his home stadium. Yes 2 were for the USMNT in Austin so that was good.

Bright future but not the finished article. Not saying Ferreira is either. AND I would probably start Pepi in Canada but that is more about the lack of options.

Well, could still qualify for 2022. No need to despair just yet.

Also, that Canadian team is very "street smart". Got away with quite a bit of fouls that a competent UEFA ref would not tolerate...
