"What already has" has been a worldwide situation caused by worldwide decreased then increased demand. We actually came through it better than most. Tariffs are not a worldwide issue. This is Us doing things that have been shown to increase prices. Looking ahead is always a good idea.

I don't think anyone's ignoring the past few years of (relatively) high inflation. I think some are questioning the wisdom of promising policy changes that have been proven historically to raise prices for consumers.

One has happened already and cant be changed (though it has been largely contained). One is promised and looming. One was, at least to a great extent, thrust upon us (the pandemic). The other will be a conscious choice, and an unforced error if it comes to pass.

If you're someone who won't focus more on what is to come than what has already been, I'm not sure how to convince you otherwise.

When you say the BRI, I think it is great for World economy but you expect me to think otherwise. When you bring up XiangJiang, I am still waiting on concrete evidence. When you say Taiwan, I think about conservative KMT vs the progressive anti-China green party. When you say "Indian border", I think about the disputed line drew by the UK. Very different World views. That is all. You do you my friend. There is no reason getting pissed over politics.

You can add this article to the list of issues with Chinese refusal to recognize international law. The pro-China shillery is a strange thing to be doubling down on, because it's just so clear that China is a bad actor on the international stage... yet again, that doesn't absolve other nations of their bad actions, and that doesn't mean there aren't great things about China, but it's just so obvious that China does some horrible things in Xinjiang, Tibet, and at sea.

I highly recommend this article as yet another example of that fact. Some of the best reporting I've ever read, fascinating and heartbreaking look into the environmental and human costs of China's illegal distant-water fishing fleet. I think it can definitely be hard to parse the propaganda coming from pretty much any political direction, but it's hard to argue with writing like this that is so deeply rooted in well-reported stories and facts. Very long but very worth the time and energy
