I was curious about the gear ratio you chose, so I played around with the gear calculator on Sheldon Brown's site. I get the following with your 70/24 combo:

RPM Speed (MPH)
40 9.2
60 13.7
80 18.3
90 20.6
100 22.9
120 27.5


Looks to be right in line with what you reported in this thread. Nice ratio for flat cruising.
