"Jagger had to approve it or we would not be allowed to put it on our record." recalled Gerald, 32 years later.

"It was back in the days when intellectual property rights laws were strictly enforced. Our version of Satisfaction was so different it was considered a parody - and the Stones had full authority to reject the parody.

"We went to the New York office of their manager Peter Rudge, which had overstuffed leather club chairs and a huge log fire. Jagger walked in, asked for a glass of wine, then said, 'Okay, put it on. Let's hear it'.

"We stuck our cassette into this big boom box and pressed Play. Jagger sat in total silence staring straight ahead. We thought, 'God, he hates it'.

"But then, he jumped up out of his chair and started dancing wildly in front of the fireplace. Dancing just like Mick Jagger. I thought, 'Oh s***, he loves it'. Mark and I went home totally stoked and elated.

For several hours this morning I could not get "Happy Talk" (from the musical South Pacific) out of my head. But not just the tune; a particular rendition of the tune. I was hearing the melody played in octaves on a piano. Couldn't figure out why it was such a specific version I was hearing in my head

...until several hours later, I remembered: I'd just seen the movie Green Book earlier this week.

Playing for Change: “The Weight”

This is among the best things I’ve seen in the internet in some time:

https://youtu.be/ph1GU1qQ1zQ

I’m sitting here with my dog Miss Fanny listening over and over (Jack my Dog passed a few years back).

And since we’re discussing Band covers, Larkin Poe (part of the Playing for Change video) does an awesome version of “Ophelia.” https://youtu.be/LopWl5GxRCs

This is a great band. https://youtu.be/r-bZ-UQezbw

Embracing the metaphor taking an icon classic and re vamped ...a “new normal” some are great options and maybe for some the classic is preferred...love how some artists re introduce these classics...some songs just have the strength to live on

for you aging punk rockers...

This one is absolutely stellar. 'X' was never my fave band by any means, but this is one of my favourite songs ever, beautifully stripped down to the basics.

John Doe sounds like Johnny Cash here. Makes you realize how cool Johnny was as well. Punk rock ahead of his time.

I'm listening to Jethro Tull Thick as a Brick right now. Not sure if it'll be stuck later though.

I was reminded today by a local moron just how arrogant and ridiculous some people can be and then this fantastic song came to mind, so fittingly.

Bob Dylan - Positively 4th Street
