That should be a card. Second time Pulisic got hauled down while cutting in from the flank
ETA: for once, the U.S. didn't get Concacafed. Should have been down a goal, but swings and roundabouts. Last edited by echappist; 11-16-2021 at 06:51 PM. |

Sluggish and slow
What was the temp and humidity? Players looked sluggish. They also didn't seem to realize how slow the grass was. So many short passes were not weighted correctly.
Not up to the usual Tyler Adams standard for instance. Musah too. A. Robinson was bad. An away point. Now to root for El Salvador. Do we root for Mex or Can or the draw? |

Never root for El Tri. Ever.

At the current rate, a second dos a cero for LLL Tri.
And Canada getting Concacafed with the no-calls |

Ugh
That US game was hard to watch, just never able to develop anything in the last 1/3 of the field... was pretty ugly all around.
I only watched the first 45 of the Canada game but man, similar type of game, lots of play in the middle 1/3, no one could develop and seemed like a foul every 30 seconds or so with lots of wining and flopping. I forget who it was, but late in the 1st half there was a foul against Mexico and i swear he rolled on the ground 4 times ala Neymar, it was ridiculous. Also, i never heard why that Jamaica goal was disallowed, wasn't offsides, I'm assuming it was a foul in the box? Jamaican player looked to be holding our defender down and he got the ball, so assuming that's the call, but wasn't 100% sure. Sure was tough not having any of these games in English, the CAN v. Mex game was on 2 channels for me, both in spinach

Yes, foul in the box on the attacker is what I read.

Not sure how Tata still has a job after losses to BOTH US & Canada.
But, hey, I hope he keeps doing whatever he is doing. USMNT still has to play El Tri in Azteca.

The ref in the Canada v Mexico game was out of his depth. 38 fouls and only three cards shown. There should have been one penalty against Mexico as well... As for the disallowed Jamaican goal, as @cgolvin posted, it's for a foul on Zimmerman. Most of the time, that foul would not be given, but the USMNT got lucky for once. Happens when the Concacaf refs take charge of a game (notice a recurring theme)? To be fair, there was some seriously bad fouls comitted by the Jamaicans, but the offenders were not carded. Ditto for the fact at least one Jamaican defender should have seen red in the first match. Also, apparently Musah (who had been great in his role as a ball carrier) had a strep throat. That shows that despite the high quality of the first choice 11, things can get dicey fast once we go to replacements. Quote:

The U.S. is in its current position despite of its coach (who thankfully has been making rational decisions lately); Canada is in its current position because of its coach. That he is able to coax cohesion from his MLS players is a testament to his prowess as a coach. Last edited by echappist; 11-17-2021 at 01:01 PM. |

Well, there's only one American coach left in the Bundesliga. True to his name, Marsch receives his marching orders. Apparently, the guy couldn't organize a defense even in the Austrian league...
At this point, perhaps better to have Nepotism Greg in place. |

I found it odd that a team with supposed title ambitions would sell both of their centre backs. I also thought they played well in the Champions League games I saw, and narrowly missed out on some results in a very tough group. Lack of defensive rigor might be a fair charge though, given their record in the league. Hope he gets another chance at a high-profile job.

I do agree with you though, that Red Bull didn't make it easy on Marsch. Marsch certainly wasn't set-up to succeed. |

Sorry, not the firing . . . about poor defensive organization with Salzburg.
