That’s my hometown trail. So many memories! The portion through Old Sac to the Guy West Bridge (Sac State) is my favorite. I don’t think there’s another car-free bike path like it in the country. Certainly the longest, to the best of my knowledge.

Today out in Fort Valley and then back up onto The Drive with Simon. Very happy to have found a reliable and fun riding buddy who lives just around the corner. This is Spring Mountain in Fort Valley, an insanely crazy amazingly beautiful piece of land. A weird horse-cult-shaman guy lives there, I'll share the story sometime.

Climbing up to Dickey Ridge, that magical part of the climb where the trees fall away on the right side and you have an awesome view that impresses the rider with just how high they've climbed in the last 15-20 minutes. Bikes are really amazing.

That is a stone labyrinth, they're common out here along trails, in the redwoods, beach paths etc. Some of them are collaborative, built over months or even years by successive visitors. The idea is to follow the concentric circles as a walking meditation to the center, then back out again. I did a sunrise trail run this morning to regulate myself from this morning's news, and stopped to walk a similar labyrinth in the park overlooking our city reservoir. Don't knock it, it's a woo-woo California thing, but it works! Oh, and stepping across the circles, or laying your bike on top is considered bad form. But we hippies forgive easily!

Dark and cloudy day yesterday with muted and drab November colors. Reflected my mood well given what had transpired over the previous 24 hours.

The hay is the annual turf repair to Badger Prairie park (site of the CX Nationals back in January of ‘11 and ‘12, IIRC) after the damage from last month’s CX races. Thankfully it was a dry weekend, not much to fix.

Funny, I get it in the original post and in both of the replies….but I am using safari on an ipad and not Tapatalk since I quit that after we had all that trouble with it.

Chrome on a Mac here, FWIW. If I paste the IMG url directly into the browser it downloads the image rather than display it in the browser.

It doesn't show up for me either, but if you click on "quote" at the bottom right, the image data comes up in the quote. Copy without the [img] parts at front and back, then paste it into a new page and the image appears - a nice light blue bike with a white panel and head-tube parked against a tree.

My apologies for the trouble with the image. FWIW it comes up for me as it should using Safari on a Mac... also loads correctly on my iPad.

Usually images work very well using Dropbox... maybe my foul mood disrupted the electron flow...
