American River Bike Trail in Sacramento . . .

. . . last week while visiting relatives in the area. I was able to borrow a 15 year-old Cannondale Synapse and got in 33+ miles on this trail that is just part of the extensive network of paved trails and cycling infrastructure in the Sacto area. Multiple neighborhood access points, bathrooms, benches, picnic areas, etc. But with equestrians letting their horses crap on it and the wealth of late afternoon would-be Strava champions, it can be dicey depending on when you ride it. I tried a bit of off-pavement advantage on this side road that my Garmin simply labeled as "unpaved road." I found out it was a bit rougher than that, LOL!

That looks like an incredible place to ride bikes, Dave. What's the deal with those stone circles?
And you know there's someone(s) out there telling their friends how 'yeah, you can ride that unpaved road with 28's, no problem, just let a little pressure out maybe.'

77F today, crazy but wonderful cycling weather. I’ll take it. Another cool detail on the Holland.

A little late to sharing these, but managed to make a last MTB trip of the year to Tahoe last weekend before the snow started falling.

The lingering and record setting hell that was one of the worst Phoenix summers I can remember appears to have ended.

Gorgeous bike season begins.

Iceman Cometh race was yesterday in northern Michigan.
These are the leaders and future winner number 126 Noah Ramsey from Toronto at Williamsburg crossing road.
And a couple creepy leftover from Halloween fans.

This is about 40km north of Lisbon, part of the Camino Santiago, it started pouring during my ride (this was Friday). I ordered some fenders today!

Perfect day on Chappaquiddick. Clear enough to see Nantucket.

Another day in paradise. It started out really cold, then settled in at a perfect 50 degrees and I ended up staying out way longer than originally planned because I am addicted to watercolor blue skies.
I know there's better wilderness scenery riding elsewhere, but after spending the first 32 years of my 37 year old life living in an increasingly overdeveloped area of New Jersey, I am acutely appreciative of how spectacularly beautiful the area I currently live in is, and how opportune it is for almost all things outdoorsy.

Not much time to ride recently but have been commuting on this recently

Took it out for a bit of a longer ride this weekend, a photo stop, and then some hills that I swore my heart was about to burst on.

That's a great picture of a beautiful bike. I'm hoping to one day find of those beautifully painted Panasonics in my size (54-56). They are so nice and, moreso, evocative of their time. That time being a time when all I I thought I really needed in life to make me happy was a digital wristwatch with oodles of calculator buttons on it, a stop watch feature, and if I dared to dream, an 'organizer'. I'd never be bored sitting in the 5th grade classroom again!

On second thought, I think Panasonic once tried to sue my dad's car audio company, so he might not share my rosy nostalgia about this bike.

Another short 20 miler with my wife on a cool (56F) and somewhat windy day in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Looks like . . .

. . . they were just something somebody did just off the main paved trail. But hey, it's Cali, so could have been local Manson chapter!

Accidentally rode over a rooster on today's ride.
I told the farmer I was really sorry and that I would love to replace him.
"Great," the farmer said. "Come back tomorrow morning and I'll introduce you to the hens."

Who got the better picture, me or Simon?

If you would like me to be your personal bike ride photographer, please send a pm. I charge $1 per mile and guarantee at least 1 photo per 20 miles that is main profile pic worthy on the dating or social media app of your preference.

(Please don't judge my talents by the picture above: Simon is incurably hideous so I just did the best I could with him.)
