It looks great--hope you get it dialed in and tested so we can hear what you think of the ride!

I think a black quill stem (to match the carbon post) would look killer on there - maybe an ITM Eclypse? Otherwise that build is perfect. Bars are great. Campy 10 is the right aesthetic.
Without having made the stem swap, so it still is ungainly long in the cockpit, I took her out for a short ride yesterday. Very impressive. Of course it feels like a great lugged skinny steel bike as expected. I like the handling and feel when climbing - both seated and standing. Given my druthers, it'd be 1-2cm taller in the ST and HT, but I think the size is workable. We'll see when I get the right stem on there. The workmanship is top notch of course. And it's mighty fun to look at...no one ever tires of Campy 10 on steel...

I'll play ...

62cm MX Leader. Stock Merckx "Century" geo.

I don't love the look of the cockpit, but I'm not quite as flexible as I used to be ...

Cool paint and a rare size - we need close-ups of the fork and TT graphics..

How do you like the ride?

Put an hour and a half in on the Sachs last night. I really like the way it rides, even w the ridiculous stem on there. Set a PR on a 10-min climb by ~15-sec that mixes rough, broken pave and some double-digit sections. 39x25 for the win. Keep on top of the gear, stand and deliver when needed - that's how you climb when you want to get somewhere. The flex of the frame has a certain resonance or harmony to it that pulls you forward. It's alive and fun to ride. I know that sounds silly, but it's what it feels like. This bike is a smile machine.

Hmm, dunno - want to see how I like it w an appropriate stem - if I do, then figure a few months or so, 1,000-ish miles.. I bought it out of curiosity and interest in trying a Sachs.

Doesn't sound silly at all to me. I've been on a fair amount of steel and there are some that have that "certain resonance or harmony to it that pulls you forward". I feel that way about my 95 Ritchey Logic and the Steelman I used to have was similar. Anyway, I get what you're saying!

Took the '86 Ironman on a 54 mile group ride today ("Running from Florence").

It has a Fizik Arione on it now and the crank arms have been polished, but otherwise looks (and rides) like this: real and spectacular.
