Me too.

Nitto drop bars in coming, will be using sram 1x11. Had a small hurdle with wheels, just needed to grab another set from the 8-speed era that will take an 11 speed cassette.

1995 Kona Cindercone. I wanted to preserve the original Kona velocity quill stem but needed it shorter than 125mm, so I shortened it and brazed on a PMW 31.8 stem clamp to have more bar selection!

i have an affinity for bontragers and had 4 at about this time last year

~1990 OR built up 2x9 with paul, white industries and fillet bullmoose. original bontrager comp fork of which the design was licensed to tange for their switchblade fork.



early 1994 Race i found pretty much as is, i put the Ti railed SSM bontrager saddle on there and also those fairweather tires which i really liked. it had a very nice fork with englund air cartridges.



late 1994 Race abandoned project in metallic purple. was going to run NOS suntour XC Pro 8 spd MD group with an older white industries crank (US made, not the more common sugino made.) the wheels i had built locally with older WI hubs and a really nice set of NOS bontrager hoops, NOS bontrager jones tires too. i realized the fork didn't have a canti hanger so i'd have to go v brakes. scrapped the whole thing and parted it out.



1994/7 Race Lite - went a little crazy on this one. m900 drive train with cook bros f type cranks, ti stem, bars, seatpost, saddle rails etc. igleheart fork. it was so light and climbed really well.

Wow, was that a DH fork? Looks like a lot of travel for that era bike.

it was a Judy XC but it did have quite a bit of travel, as you say, for a fork of the era, probably about as much as any 1" would have that wasn't DH specific.

it was excellent ! as good as it gets for a 1" though there was a 1" marzocchi was supposed to be very good too, one of the last produced 1" forks i think - marzocchi bomber marathon race. super hard to come by, as are those englund air cartridges

While I rode 26ers for many years, I just cannot imagine it now - I am so used to 29ers! I love this era of bikes though - so many great bikes here…

really cool what you did to retain the velocity quill. i really dig those konas, especially when they've got the bronze p2 with the paint matched stem.
