It goes far beyond HD to wrap pipes. A cooler pipe= more power (at least in theory). Not asbestos by the way. I also quit wrapping pipes in fiberglass because everytime I had to work on the bike and brushed against the pipes I would start itching.

The pipes will burn you if you aren't careful. I ride in over ankle boots so I've never been burned. The Missus and I will occasionally ride 2-up on the Norton and neither of us have ever been burned. But if someone were to hop on it in shorts and sneakers they would probably get a lovely parting gift on the inside of their calf for their efforts.

OK, enough of this motorcycle nonsense. I've got to get back to grindstone and get a frame out the door.

The wrap stops about where I think my knees would be so I'm afraid I would be burned. In any event my all-time favorite pipes are the slightly up-swept reverse cone mufflers that came stock on Commando Roadsters in 1970-71 so if I owned this lovely bike I would have those pipes on it.

This is what I ride gets 100mpg and I've never had to question weather I should ride the scooter or my bicycle . My main fear with a real motorcycle is that it would take time away from my pedaling.

that pic isn't mine, mine looks way worse, kinda faded been dropped a few times, fell off a trailer, boat racing stickers on it from being used as a pit bike. The damn thing almost has 10k miles on it too which is amazing. The only place I have ever taken it and had someone check it out was a bike shop where the guy asked if I could pace the upcoming CX race with it.
