There are multiple locations.

Visit Betty wherever you need some gas.

Littleton, NH area

My wife and I (and Fiona, our canine hiking star!) are at an Airbnb in Littleton NH as a base for our annual week of dayhiking in the White Mountains, which were our stomping ground when we lived in NH. The weather was terrific when we arrived, so we hiked four relatively strenuous days in a row to start. For a pair of flatland geezers, it's not the up that gets us, it's descending. Over 13,000 ft in four days, plus a rainy forecast with thunderstorms, have us taking a rest day today. I brought the Bingham and plotted a short route with plenty of elevation, trying to squeeze it in before the rain (did not fully succeed.) Right from our BNB I rode about a mile then up 800’ in the next 3-1/2 miles. Steep! Down the other side to RT 135 in Dalton was fast. I was 1/2 mile from one of the big road washouts from the recent rainstorm so I went up to take a look, then turned around and rode down 135 back to Littleton. About 19 miles. For the middle 16 miles away from Littleton I can’t recall being passed by a single car. On some of the high points there are mountain views, and the photo below is from 135 looking into VT.

I'm glad that you made it home safely.

I was braking on the downhills, holding it to 40 mph, thinking about deer and dogs…

And we went out last evening to walk the pooch and as soon as we went out the front gate we saw the bear across the road and decided maybe the walk wasn't critical

Another 20-mile ride with my wife. With total hip replacement in March, 8 rib fractures in April, and building a deck during the heat spell in July, this was only my 4th ride since January and my fitness is absolutely zero. I guess I will just have to work on it slowly.

Definitely take it slowly. This heat/humidity we've been having seems to be really zapping my fitness too. It was brutal out there today on my run.

I posted these in my NW Michigan ride recs thread, but figured they're good here as well. It's been a big summer of riding, including a tour from Seattle to Los Angeles. I'll have to share those photos sometime soon.

We stayed on the north side of Crystal Lake and I rode from the house on each ride, getting to Thompsonville, Frankfort, Beulah, and many random roads in between.

Hope you share more about your Sea>LA tour, especially your route. I did the whole Pacific Coast route in my 20's and it was absolutely epic

Mtb

Hilltopper and I got in a nice ride on the excellent and underused local trails outside of Cooperstown.
It was a tropical morning.

Out this morning on this wonderful bike. Every ride on it is a joy. Storms cleared out the smoke at least so a pretty nice time out.
