Got cut loose early on Wednesday so I figured I'd horse around. This morning I got out early on early on dawn patrol - with lights - to beat the predicted heat and humidity. Hope everyone has a good and safe 4th.

Why the carrots? Was he just doing his grocery shop, or is this ride fuel?

They're feeding the carrots to the burros in the next picture.

@Rabaja: good luck! I've done it 2x. Spectacular scenery and full road closures are a fabulous experience.

Been on Cape Cod all week with a pretty decent amount of "hall pass" to go riding. Did 9 hours the last 5 days.

Today I went out to Truro and Wellfleet, didn't feel like going to Provincetown. Great ride, 64 miles, some familiar roads, some new roads, but I got stuck in horrific rain and flooding in the roads. Very dirty for a road ride. Had a guy behind me in the worst of it and he crashed. I didnā€™t realize he was really there or anything was wrong other than gear noise, and it was raining so hard I was just soldiering on. But I ended up meeting him later and I felt pretty bad i hadnā€™t noticed and stopped to make sure he was ok. Lucky he just had a little rash, he said his front derailleur jammed and he stopped but then fell over.

One other day I had some route planning snafus and ended up doing a lot of dirt roads on 28c tires and had to walk some of the really nasty stuff. Pictured road is not called out as dirt on either Google Maps or Apple.

Other than today the weather has been fantastic. Nowhere near as hot as home.
