No, I'm 4 hour south of there in the Bay Area. It's actually quite a detour from the coastal redwoods, since there aren't any good way to drive through the coastal mountain range.

But if you have the time, it's worth it. Nice roads and low traffic. It could get hot in the summer months though.

Both are great areas. It's easiest to loop up to Grant's Pass/Medford/Ashland and come back down to Shasta. But that whole area has lots of fun roads. It can be hot in the valleys below Shasta in the summer.

I actually spent the long weekend up there, and did a short overnight motel tour. Rode from Weed to Yreka, stayed the night, and rode back to Weed. Endless gravel roads out in the farmland.

Salt Pond

Brand new Ritchey Logic on Cape Cod at the Salt Pond Visitors Center. The Cape Cod Rail Trail has some rough spots and I wanted a rim brake road bike with clearance for 30 mm tires. The Logic is working out well. It is not a "super-bike" but it is quite capable in group rides and great for all day explorations. The frame is new and I built it up with an older, but mint condittion, Dura-Ace 9000 group. Quite nice.

41 miles on Bob Jackson, friction shifting and toe clips. Cino training ride
Edit - I just realized that in the past six days I've ridden all four of my drop bar bikes. Quite a variation, from the Jackson to the Supersix Evo Hi-Mod, with the two Ti bikes in between.

You just know that any drivers passing by had to be thinking "what a bunch of asses."

Got out for the Tolmantown loop for the first time this season. A pretty gnarly route with big rocky hills! Plenty of climbing along with some pretty nice roads to get there and back. Beautiful day for a ride!
