It was around 48 degrees today, so hit the bike trail again to avoid the little bit of salt left on the roads. Hard to beat for February in NYS.

New bike day!
Well, technically new-bike-yesterday. First ride tomorrow! Curious how that Personal Pie x Family Pie gearing will feel. I am optimistic! |

Maybe the wheels are a clue? All I know my rim brake bikes are looking "vintage" compared to this.

Rode the Litespeed Unicoi down to the south side of Martha's Vineyard to look at the erosion from the big storms we've had. Those were higher dunes with a lot of beachgrass and vegetation that was washed away as the ocean flowed over the dunes. Second pic is riding back on a typical little dirt road here.
It was 50F, so I went out again in the afternoon on the Supersix!

Unbelievably gorgeous weather out today. Saw the same peacock out today. No plumage. Clearly, my charisma is fading.

Speaking of which...new bike day today. Speaking of today, it started in Freehold, NJ. This is probably the best overall bakery I've ever eaten from. My girlfriend and I had a When Harry Met Sally moment over one of their cheese danishes. The coffee was great. The Italian twist bread loaf was better than my mom's homemade challah. Still haven't tried the hamentaschen or the croissants we got, but a fella needs something to look forward to, it's good for the mental health, so they are in the fridge and will get eaten tomorrow (I hope!). Anyway, it's a testament to how good Bruno's is that I have thus far been silencio about my new bike... Well, roughly 6 hours after that cheese danish, I finally got to ride the bike! A full review is coming in a separate thread, but the short of it is that I could not be happier with how it feels, how it handles, how it feels, how it goes fast, how it feels, how it fits, how it feels. Man, I also have a Mog, been riding that for a good 5-6 months now, and that bike too, it just feeeeeeels so good. Enve knows how to make a bike that translates all of the textures and details of the road and all of your own input into the bike, into the most...When Harry Met Sally moment awesome tactile sensations. This ride was 50 miles, a little over 3500 feet of climbing. I was trying to pull a James Dak, but ended up pulling a James Dak and-then-some, averaging 20.4 mph. Since moving to a very not flat area of VA, from a very flat area of NJ, I can count on one hand the amount of times I've solo'd at 20+, and today it felt pretty...not effortless, but not very hard either. So I guess that, despite Enve not making tons of aero claims about this bike, it is a fast bike. Passed by a couple of couple of Amish guys out riding today! First I was like, what, no helmets? But then I got closer and saw the straw hats. Forgiven? Whatevs. Anyway, these guys (late teens, mid 20's) were riding quality but old bikes, not very well maintained. 3 flat bars (Bianchi, Raleigh, Trek) and a really old drop bar Trek with stem shifters and no bar tape. They were out riding 45-50 miles on these klunkers, and really moving! The guy on the dropbar aluminum Trek sprinted after me as I passed by, and I sat up and let him catch up (I did this out of fear that he'd catch me anyway), and we chatted for a bit. They all just looked so gosh darn happy --it was a beautiful afternoon in the high 60's in February, so why not be happy?-- and clearly loving every second of their ride. Moments like these, I kinda wish I was a gajillionaire so tomorrow morning I could drop off a handful of nice new road bikes for those guys at their farm. All in all, great day, great ride, great bike. The real test is if the cafe is better than your mom’s Sufganiyot |

^exapkib, are you back in the States? Do I remember that you were working overseas in the Middle East without a bike for a while? Or was that someone else?
