Read this a while back. Excellent read of life and death and love in a rural town.

Founding Gardeners
A very different approach to the Founding Fathers (USA). Agriculture and gardening were key to personalities and decision making in ways one may not have suspected. Well researched, not too dry, a pretty good summer read.

One of my favorite authors, James Lee Burke, "Every Cloak Rolled In Blood". The story itself, some psychic, other worldly aspects, is not something I normally get into. However, Burke is such a fantastic writer, his prose is a pure joy to read. I am likely to read it again soon, as I think I will pick up, or better understand, some of the events and characters.

I'm in the middle of Steinbeck's My Travels With Charlie in Search of America. Excellent audio book read by Gary Sinese.
Peter Zheutlin very loosely based his book The Dog Went Over the Mountain on Steinbeck's book, which I am planning on listening to next... Peter wrote the excellent book Around the World on Two Wheels, which describes the crazy life of an ancestor of his... Highly recommended, if you like bikes.

Just finished reading Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey again. Fun to revisit this book after 30 or so years.

Yeah, hopefully you didn't get the illustrated edition like I did. In either case, it's a great read.
