Reminds me of the billboards for a similar challenge from a place in the TX panhandle regarding a huge steak. I think you only got a free steak if you could eat it all, no money paid out. I am sure I could down 2 lbs of hamburger but not 10. Didn't notice the one hour time limit at first. Does anyone attempt that?

Some photos from yesterday. This end of the county is more interesting to ride in than where I rode the day before, with lots of rolling hills and wooded areas. My grandmother taught school circa 1929 in a one room schoolhouse somewhere beyond the cemetery in the photo. I remember her pointing out the spot in the late 1960s but I can't remember exactly where it was now. I saw a red tailed hawk, a bald eagle, and whitetail buck with 10 or 12 points on this ride. The buck stood right in the middle of the road in profile for several seconds within 20 yards or so. Wish I'd had the phone in my hand at the time.

Western Illinois is lovely country.
And a bit further north, from today's windy but warm (over 50 degrees) AM ride. Almost all of the color is gone, but the oaks hang onto their leaves well into winter. Maybe the Peg's last workout until next Spring...

Same here with fall color. Leaves were just starting to turn when we got a couple of nights with a hard freeze. That was the end of 95% of of color in the trees as the leaves were dropping by daylight. I did see an oak yesterday with nice red color but couldn't get a decent photo of it with the sun behind it.
I didn't ride today, spent the afternoon moving farm machinery inside for the winter. Windy here but I don't think we had the 30 mph winds predicted. |

Sun was shining the wind was blowing and it was in the 30's. Finished up a build and needed to get out for a ride.

I wish we had more roads like that around here. My ancestors left Cooperstown prior to 1850 for the wilds of MI, then WI, then IL. Your photos make me wish they had stayed in NY.

Wondering if he purchased all that sculpture or if he's been squirreled away in the garage for years building it - just waiting to spring it on the neighbors.

I ended up buying my house just above the Valley and a couple of miles from the Adirondacks. Couldn't really ask for a better place to ride from my front door! Sent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk |

Today's ride started out with sun shining and ended with wet snow, but it was still worth it!

A ride with my wife that I cut short due to hip issues - she went on. Same but worse last weekend. It looks like hip replacement, and whatever they can do for hip bursitis is in my NEAR future. Had a cortisone injection in the hip joint last Wednesday (crazy long needle) and one in the outside bursae the Wednesday before that. Zero gain from either. Previously, I would get about 5-6 months. Shorter crank arms may help but it's not a long term solution. Lavi had a hip-issues thread last spring that I contributed to and I was hoping for luck with the cortisone, but nope. Anyway:
