40 miles with my wife in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia:
The Kirk continues to amaze with a super smooth and comfortable ride - Longbranch plantation in the background. Longbranch, a sister plantation to Belle Grove, which I posted here last week. A historical site today, but a slave-worked plantation before the civil war. On the grounds at Longbranch: |

I often ride thru the UT research campus as it affords an essentially car-free area with nice pavement...
was rolling along the other day and heard what I assumed to be a leaf blower, looked around for the landscape crew but saw this instead. it's an electric VTOL aircraft w/18 battery-powered propellers...can be operated remotely or by an onboard human pilot. watched it go thru some test protocols, low hover, high hover, did a circuit at about 30 ft altitude...I'm an aviation nut, so thought it was kinda cool. here's the mfg website if you want to read more about it. https://www.liftaircraft.com/story |

A weird but fun ride today. Found a complete fly set up on the way out and two bucks in the road while waiting out a thunderstorm.

Portland Sunday Parkways was a good excuse to take the old LeMond out for a casual ride.
I have bad ideas… |

Our annual "Nocturne" ride, the weekend nearest the summer solstice, up to Mt. Wilson followed by a thrilling descent of Angeles Crest Highway in the dark. (Not pictured: the 80+ people on the ride.)

Summer vacation
Up north with the family in northern lower Michigan.
Finally had some time where the weather cooperated! 60 miles and 1364 ft of up. More than my normal rides down state! Last edited by KevinC; 06-27-2023 at 07:40 PM. Reason: Info |

The road is closed past the snow gate until late July so traffic isn’t too bad. (FS is grading the gravel section.) The “road closed” sign at the start of the climb is so small that there are still drivers slamming on the brakes when they arrive at the snow gate. Then again that happens even in the winter. |
