I don't recall if it was mentioned earlier in this thread: both brothers' wives are pregnant. Two children will never know their fathers due to a drunk driver. My disgust with this situation is beyond words.

It is indeed "the sticks", more or less. Farmland slowly converting to warehouses & even slower conversions to subdivisions.

Unfortunately, the only reason anyone is still talking about it is because of the célébrité of the victims. However, it has raised a bit of cycling awareness amongst the locals.

The 43-year-old Higgins is charged with two counts of death by auto, reckless driving, possession of an open container and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle. His blood-alcohol level was recorded at .087, above the .08 legal limit in New Jersey, according to prosecutors.

Excerpt from the Guardian article. It is beyond my comprehension that anyone could be arguing to not just let this man out before the trial, but let him drive.

“Defense lawyers, in seeking bail, suggested that Higgins could be limited to driving only with a locking device to prevent him from drinking and driving. And they noted that he tested just over the legal limit, adding that a recent knee surgery likely impacted the field test.”
