Yeah, I'm 5'11" and I'm super squarely medium in this. Which is fine, but I think I'm a Large in everything else. Maybe I'm an ML in mid-aughts Time VXRS...

I think this was mentioned upthread, but does anyone know if Ritchey is coming out with a Zeta Classic wheelset with a dynamo hub, as that photo implies? Or is that bike a mockup?

I was thinking the same thing--the XL stack and reach is nearly identical to my custom, and close to Fairlight 58T size on their secan.

I want to like this Ritchey but the Soma Smoothie HP at $800 just seems like the winner instead. The Medium Ritchey is 1 mm different in stack/reach from the size 56 soma.

I would consider that too small a diameter. It would certainly work, but if it was designed around 700x35/40 it's much smaller than intended. FWIW, I have the Ritchey Gravel fork and at 383 A-C it has clearance for a 54-584 tire. I'd think this new for has every bit as much unless they made it narrower between legs for some reason.

They do seem pretty similar. I think the Ritchey would be considered the higher zoot frame: better tubing, detailing, etc. I built an HP a few months ago, and a friend my height is getting one of the first batch of Montebellos, so hopefully I’ll get an opportunity to compare them.

those are some long bikes per stack and reach.. which us baffling to me if it's a bike designed for a long day in the saddle..

I wonder if its to keep toe overlap to a minimum. Normally its no big deal on regular road bikes, but on something where you go offroad its not much fun. He's probably just trying to keep toes out of spokes.

The Ritchey webpage appears broken right now, maybe they're updating something?

I hope they're not paying their web guys too much.

I'm not sure what offroad has to do with needing long reach. There are other ways to deal with toe overlap besides long reach and 99% of off road bikes tend to pick those other ways of solving the problem. (Technically yes, MTBs have long reach, but that's cause they're designed for short stems and don't use drop bars)
