those are 17" wheels that the dealer swapped at the last minute. I wasn't looking for anything particularly exotic, but I think the cars look better with more open wheels (and they are easier to clean). They said no until the 11th hour at which point the parts manager said, "sure, I can do that".
I have a Llumar product. I think 35 all around & even have a clear film on the windshield (blocks UV)..it's their high end stuff..ceramic, whatever that really means...and a lifetime warranty that is transferable for the product & its installation - I do know what that means. The bit of privacy and cooler temps are nice without it looking like a gangster car. |

Is there clearance for the sunroof to open with that set-up?

I hear it is very tight.
I bought one without a sunroof. It's cool, but I didn't want the expense. I've got the Porsche if I want an open roof. |

re: the pano roof and my rack -
YES it does clear. but it is very very close. like 3-4 sheets of paper close. took a few tries at exact placement to get the right spot for the crossbars, and they're spaced 'up' slightly with a couple stick-on rubber feet. it's extremely rare that we actually open the roof, but we do vent it pretty often no problem. i knew it would be really snug before purchase after trawling a few VW forums. Ken Robb, it's Logan Square/Avondale |

I'm from Berwyn but those two-flats are common throughout "Chicagoland". Gee, do they still use that term? |

Chicagoland is definitely still in use!

Just in case anybody at VW is reading this thread:
I'd dump my Subaru in a second if the JSW came out in AWD. I had a Passat for years, and loved it, and my wife had a TDI Golf. But we do a lot of driving in the Adirondacks in winter, to ski, etc., and I would not now give up AWD. And yes, I always put snow tires on, every car. |

It sounds like they are saying the mk7 will get all wheel drive for 2016.

Emissions; TDI and gas
Maybe someone can educate me on the level of pollution emitted from the TDI and 2.5/1.8T engines. Is there a significant difference between the two? Where I live, the air quality is not that great year round, and down right HORRIBLE during the winter time (due to inversion). Worse than LA and other major cities at times. Just want to do what I can to help, since I drive so much (short of going hybrid). |

The 2015 will also have DEF.

That's good to hear and that is a +1 for the TDI. I guess the better MPG of the diesel just adds to the overall net effect as well.
