I am 6'-3" and I look like I'm in a carnival car when I'm in a convertible--otherwise a Boxster would be great! I always thought the first gen Boxsters were so cool. They were more boat or light aircraft than car! This whole odyssey started with test driving beat up 981 cayman's and realizing how fun a sports car could be.

Update:
I received the car on Friday and have been buzzing ever since! Mine is a "driver". Doesn't show up in the pictures but it needs a paint correction and the interior needs some TLC (actually a LOT--there is an old leather smell that gives me a headache). I kind of like it it looks "broken-n and less flashy. Just a pretty car that gets to play. The exhaust is not too loud but does make a great sound. I was worried because reading online and watching reviews, I thought it would be really obnoxious but it is not. It just sounds really mechanical. It takes some work to drive it but I like that. It has a deceptively smooth ride which makes it really easy to go faster than you think. It is not effortless like my buddy's 992 Turbo S though--that car is more of an earth-mover than a sports car though. The Ergonomics are great--even for my 6'2 height. The seats feel great and the cabin feels roomy enough and it is a very special place to sit. The visibility is surprisingly good for being a low-slung coupe. All of that is attributed to the mirrors though. I took it to Mulholland on Friday and have been to Angeles Crest for the past two days. It is a real pleasure to drive even at slow and moderate pace. Anyway, pictures: |

I was the third post on this thread and am delighted with how it has progressed.

Very nice.
My only problem is this: What do you do at a stop light - no one else is around, then a Dodge Viper pulls up alongside and blips the throttle a few times... The Beauty vs the Beast. |

Such a great looking and sounding car. Glad it's fun to drive.
Would be interesting to know what refurb options you find for the seats. I'd be tempted to refurb it on the "driver" end of the spectrum over luxury choices. |

Wow. I just went back and looked at the OP date--11/13/2021. Almost a full year of "being on the fence" That's after spending most of 2020 "thinking about it"!!!

Getting the seats clean and conditioned is my first project. After that, there are 3 tears (driver's side bolster, back of passenger seat, two horizontal scratches on the dash) That I will think about having repaired. I am a very particular person but surprisingly none of those defects really bother me. I might have convinced myself that they are "patina".

I have not learned how to "launch" the car yet--it's still too new to me. I'll rev my engine so the viper can appreciate the noise and then watch them speed ahead of me when the light changes!
