I'll have to post pics soon but I'm just about done with my caad13 build. I wanted to keep things within reason re budget and my goal was to have my first bike ever that weighed in the 16s even if by a hair.
With the carbon wheels, TPU tubes, cadex saddle, and bontrager direct mount brakes, I got the bike to 7580 grams. I'm pretty stoked about it. If I don't like my fancy lightweight saddle I bought for this build I might just go back to my power knockoff or Smp since I know how to dial them in and can put those funds elsewhere....like buying a lighter fork for my Gervais equilibrium í ½í¸‚ It's pretty wild to me that folks routinely get these to be a kilo lighter than mine, but I guess it makes sense. A lighter set of carbon wheels would easily save 200g, lighter sisl crankset (vs my ultegra) would probably be close to another 150-200, lighter groupset(than ultegra) another 150-200, lighter bars another 50-75, ee brakes vs the bontrager another 50... Here's mine. Apologies for the low res pics.
The wheels are Velocity Dyad rims with Ultegra hubs. The 28mm Vittoria Rubino's measure out to 29/30mm. There is more than adequate clearance. That said, the wheels are boat anchors - but in a good way. They're extremely sturdy, which is needed given the horrible roads in my area. The bike comes in at around 20 lbs., maybe a bit less. The ride is excellent - very much like a steel bike, surprisingly. The tires probably make a significant difference in ride quality. Love the sharp looking CAAD13s shown in this thread! Question: have you weighed your CAAD13 frames/forks? Other than a few weightweenies.starbike.com posts, I have found very little factual information on CAAD13 weights. While frame/fork weight is not my first priority, it is a data point that I like to know. For example, actual frame/fork weights for my size 56 CAAD10 is 1230g/390g. My CAAD9 (with a very thick coat of paint) is 1327g/425g.

Beautiful bike. Lovely color. I totally agree on the seat post. I had to use Park carbon/assembly paste to keep it from slipping.

I love the CAAD13 in rim brake. Both above example are beautiful.
I was looking for one as my final rim brake build up, but are tough to find in my size. I found a rim brake titanium frame on a great deal, so my funds went here. |

I’m jealous of the throwback paint schemes on these Cannondales! I remember seeing these go up for sale on Mikes bikes, I hesitated just long enough and the 56s were sold out. They then all showed up on eBay for 2x the price.

The throwback paint schemes are pretty great, but the 'murdered out' look is pretty dang good too!

Resurrecting this thread since I purchased a CAAD13 over the summer. The long hoped-for post-pandemic bike selloff appears to have arrived! I picked up a very lightly used example for a low price. The OEM tires still had mold flashing. I stripped the bike to the frame and built it up to my liking. The more upright geometry (as compared to previous CAAD iterations) required a slammed stem, but I was able to get the fit exactly as my previous bikes.
Contrary to some online articles, I find the CAAD13 to be a worthy successor to the CAAD9-10-12. I raced mine for the first time today. With a slightly lower bottom bracket, I found it handled beautifully on a twisty, hilly course. My first impression is that it may even be a better road racing bike than its predecessors. It doesn’t have the telepathic turn-in that makes previous CAADs great crit bikes. At the same time, it’s very at home in fast pacelines and downhills. I certainly can’t use its handling as an excuse for my performance. Color me pleased. Greg |
