As with everything from Stelbel, this is beautiful. But based on their description, I can't see how you can easily change stems or the number of spacers. It's probably a mistake, but I'm constantly experimenting with fit.

I happened to see one (i.e. the Vamoots CRD) in person at a bike shop today.
Kind of a good news/bad news situation. The good news is that it looks better in person. The bad news is that I think the traditional Moots Ti stem with external cables and the more conventional Chris King headset looks better, especially with newer SRAM or Shimano Di2 that only has two brake hoses. I should note the new thin seat stays look nice, as with the curved bridge near where they meet the seatpost. I agree with others that Moots is a bit behind brands like No 22, who have a cleaner solution. A bit more tire clearance (e.g. 35mm instead of 32mm) would be helpful for the CRD. Rims like Enve and Zipp, with wide internal diameters, means that a "32" is more like a 35 once inflated. So with the CRD, the result is that you are most likely limited to 30mm tires as they will easily get to 32mm on many modern premium carbon wheels. All that said, it was pretty cool in person. The price is a bit nuts, even for a Moots, but I think it will grow on people, especially their core base of loyal fans. |

Thanks. It’s a 50cm. Thanks! It’s my first Ti bike so I don’t have a lot to compare it to but the ride is awesome - drastically different from the only bike I’ve had for the last couple of years (Pinarello Grevil) - duh…. I traded weight and aero for ride feel and longevity and so far have no regrets. |

What kind of weight did your bike come in at? With pedals and cages.

Cages, pedals, and Assioma Duo Shi power meter spindles it’s at 19/lbs (maybe a shade lighter since I switched to a lighter saddle w/ Ti vs. manganese rails).

Just got mine a couple of days ago. 16.5 without pedals. Really enjoying it so far.

Any thoughts now that you've had it for a bit of time?

After two seasons on the CRD I’m completely happy with it and would not have changed anything. Super happy with the ride quality, the understated industrial Moots aesthetic, the build and fit. Happy to answer more specific questions and feel free to PM or email me.
Best!! |

Thanks for the reply, I am glad to hear you like it. Long story short, a few years back I had the Vamoots Disc RSL, sold it, and am looking at a Moots road model again.
Sorry for the dumb question but I cannot see how to send a PM? In the meantime some of my basic questions: 1) Any issues with the cables rattling/rubbing/making noise? 2) Thoughts on how it rides compared to other Moots or metal bikes? 3) Tire clearance ... I know it's officially 32mm, what tires are you running on what rim ID and how well does it fit? Thanks again! |
