This is my 1999 Litespeed Unicoi with the YBB-like soft tail. It was my MTB for years, until 2015 when I bought my Pivot FS 29er. It's been in dropbar mode but was replaced this year for that duty by the Habanero. I had the disc mount welded on in the mid-2000s and run BB7s.

It's the bike used when I am going somewhere here on Martha's Vineyard where the route can include trails, either errands or a meeting or similar. It's also the winter studded tire bike - 26er wheels are cheap, I have three sets. The set on the bike here are American Classic, very light, and have the terrific Conti Speed King 26x2.2 tires which sadly I think aren't made anymore. The other two wheelsets have Nokian studded tires, Hakkapellitta W240 for "normal" icy conditions and the no-longer-made Freddie's Revenge monster tires with big knobs and over 300 studs - for riding in snowstorms

The drivetrain is Frankenbikish. An 11 speed cassette is shifted by a Deore trigger shifter and the RD is an 11 speed 2X Deore. The 44-33 front is shifted by a top pull CX70 and a DA barcon on a Paul Thumbie.

Not my bike, but he did such a good job with this, I had to share. '89 Stumpjumper converted to a 1x9 Advent drivetrain, Paul brake levers, Deore v-brakes, new Velocity Cliffhanger wheels, VO fenders and racks, 1.9" tires, wald basket, and (I think) Nitto Wavie bars.

If he got it powdercoated it would be :chefskiss: but it's probably best to stick with the 80s-tastic paint to ward off at least some of the thieves.

A somewhat minor cockpit update. I love this bike, but I really should buy a modern MTB. My old body doesn't recover like it used to after vaulting over the bars.

Updated my Coconino from Titanium Groovy Bar 660mm 23 degrees to 700mm SQ Lab 311 FL-X 16 degrees. Slightly more dampening, same weight.

Darimo Stem is lighter than the Thomson 25.4 it replace. The change was made because the faceplate of Thomson broke.

Uh, maybe Rockhopper? I almost bought one like that in the late 80's, but ended up getting a Bridgestone MB-3.

My first MTB - 1990 GT Karakoram. Later on my daughter rode it to school every day when she was in high school.

One fine morning I decided to give it a good cleaning and the paint came right out, almost as if it hasn't age a day, durable and darn near indestructible too.

It's hanging on the hook in the garage. I still have the original painted stem





Not sure why the color comes out red but it's more orange than red, like these:

Thanks! Definitely went a little too far but love how it rides. No basket right now swapped out the rocker shifter for some wireless blips.

Not gonna lie - this is probably one of my favorite bikes I have seen on here this year. Sooooooooo sweet. Love that YELLOW!
