I've always loved nice watches. I wore one while working, but haven't for over 12 years now. I wear an inexpensive watch while traveling overseas and it amazes me how many men wear their nice Rolex while traveling--just inviting a thief in my opinion. I have offered a nice Maurice Lacroix in trade for cycling stuff to many of you here on the forum. It's my last mechanical watch. I have traded the others. The mechanical watches aren't for everyone, but when I wear one, it does make me feel a bit more special than when not.

Was just in London as well and really like the new black/green Sub but it’s a lefty only watch. Just doesn’t make sense for a right handed wearer. Plus I have a Hulk so not too different.

I went with IWC Big Pilot Petite Prince instead…timeless design and have wanted one since seeing one on a business trip back in 2007.

There's one brand that has all the stems on the inside, the name isn't coming to me right now.

It makes a fair bit of sense to not have a stem digging into your hand on extension, but traditions I guess.

I think the worst thing about having your Rolex taken from you would be the useless check from your insurance company and the 1-2 year wait for a replacement.

IMHO, life's too short to give into this sort of thing. You can 'what if' yourself into or out of anything. My Rolex is very dear to me but I won't 'what if it gets stolen' it off my wrist. Besides, stay vigilant, be prepared. Leave it at that.

I still wear my Tag everyday.
I would love to have the Sea-Dweller, but as I rarely dive to 1,200 meters, I'll have to stay to above 200 meters with my Tag

(joking, I don't dive)

Great watch, enjoy!

I had a sea dweller for a few years but the weight got to me and I eventually sold it. I got it for the lack of cyclops compared to the submariner…

More of a swatch guy (it’s still Swiss at least for accuracy and cycling weight weenie approved) now after years of being obsessed with Rolex and a few other brands.

I think its more of I don't want to get beaten up for my watch. Its not just oh oooops I got my rolex stolen, its more of a you beaten up and roughed up because you are wearing a 20k dollar watch.

But yeah LA is a lot more "dangerous" than Colorado so ymmv.

Personally if I had a rolex or any other valuable watch I would not wear it as a daily, too much attention imo

Exactly. Criminals are much more violent these days. There has been incidents that shooting was involved.

I'm just dumbfounded, sitting here trying to think of a place in town where I'm going to get roughed up for my watch. I guess I'll leave that to the experts that live on the other side of the country. Fortunately I only wear a Tudor or a Speedmaster so I make it home safely most days.

you mean echo park or LA? I bet there are plenty of locations in LA that it could happen, Echo Park probably not as it seems median price for a home is over 1.3m

I wear my OP and Tudors in LA all the time. Advantage (I guess) of having smaller ones, but I never worry. Love the OP and want an Explorer. I'd wear it in LA, too.
