Nice club ride yesterday in upstate NY . . .

We had a great 50-mile club ride yesterday from the shores of Saratoga Lake up and around Summit Lake in Washington County before returning to Saratoga. The weather was a huge change from the sunny 90-degree highs of the past few days to 61 degrees at our start, rising only up to about 70 by ride’s end, with cloudy skies and a constant wind that seemed to come from every direction at once at times. The countryside was beautiful, including some roads I’ve never been on before. While there was plenty of climbing as we headed toward Summit Lake, there were no knee-breakers, with plenty of long stretches of gently rising pavement as we headed northeast. I kept up with the hammers for the first ten miles, then faded backward to spend time with more friends and enjoy the day–and, of course, get some pictures! It was a great way to spend a day with some cycling friends. I rode my 2012 Serotta Legend SE, and several other guys showed up on Serottas and paused to do a selfie with me. I’ll let you guess who they are (wink, wink). The guy in light blue was riding a 3-year-old Duetti, but I didn’t get any shots of that because he dropped me like a stone early in the ride. The other was a new Duetti with shaped top tube and Campy mechanical plus snazzy red custom paint (Photos shot with Panasonic Lumix ZS200 and iPhone 13 Pro.)

This is where I observed my minute of silence today.
In honor of Peter Knapp.

Just under 30 miles with my wife on a sunny but windy day in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with the air quality back to normal:

The Zank got two new TA chainrings. I am trying 52/36 rather than the 50/34 that was on there.

Hike-a-bike in Angeles Nat’l Forrest today. Incredibly lush down in the canyons with all of the rain and snow runoff. Not normal to be wading knee deep through multiple stream crossings around here. Shifter cables snagged matching wildflowers along the way. ETA: just saw that LA Times reported it’s rained more in LA so far this year than Portland and Seattle. Bonkers — welcome, given our drought, but bonkers.

Photos from your rides.

15 miles without gears today. I wonder if I look like an idiot on this. Don’t care, it’s a ton of fun.

I have bad ideas…

Remember the movie "Paris, Texas"?

I rode Texas today, Texaspass at the Kaiserstuhl. Which is a volcano so the picture is looking down into the crater

The shot of the “wild life” in the last photo is magnificent. 😉
