I am about to buy the Ekar groupset and wanted to figure out what additional pieces I need to order. I know that BB and brake adapters are not included. It seems from some YouTube videos that the groupset comes with derailleur and brake hosing but wanted to confirm. The only other thing I can think of is the rear frame brake bolts. Is there something else Im missing?

it depends on where you're buying from. different retailers have different definitions of what a "group" consists of. Be sure to read the description and call the seller to confirm what is included or not.

Traditionally when you buy a group it comes with the 8 main pieces- crankset, bb, front and rear derailleurs, chain, cassette, brakeset and levers. For Ekar, it's 9 pieces- crankset, bb, rear derailleur, chain, cassette, front and rear rotors, front lever w/caliper, rear lever w/caliper. Most retailers include the adapters for the fork and chainstay and 1 set of chainstay/rear caliper bolts. The levers/calipers have fluid in them but the groups do not come with a bleed kit or hydro fluid. Not sure where you're getting your group from but make sure they include things mentioned above. I include a bleed kit and fluid, I think it's a nice thing to do for people. Hope that helps. |

Thank you both. That is probably the best idea. I had assumed it was standardized but it is easy enough to check

Hey guys,
I would like to thank you for all the ressources I found around here. This is without discussion the most active forum. As a french I didn't find something similar about campagnolo stuff. I've tried to setup an Ekar crankset on my cargo bike (yeah I know... i'm a campy fan) without success. Cranks doesn't fit with the cups (I've installed the pro tech cups with BSC threading). The bracket is very common (68mm) and I honestly doubt there is something with my bike since I've try to install the Ekar Crankset on other bikes without success too (eps record cups). Is this something you have ever read or heard about that Ekar crankset ? Here you will find some pictures. |

What part of the installation is not working? Are you able to thread the bolt from the non-drive side to the drive side part of the hirth joint?

Yeah, I can't thread the bolt to the non-drive side due to the fact that i'm not able to put the drive side entirely into the bracket (as you can see on the last picture). |

Perhaps it is an issue with inserting the retaining spring too soon? Traduire automatiquement: insérer le ressort de retenue trop tôt
The spring needs to be "resting" (not clipped in until you install the crank) Le ressort doit être "au repos" (pas clipsé jusqu'à ce que vous installiez la manivelle) https://www.campagnolo.com/media/fil..._03_21_ENG.pdf https://www.campagnolo.com/media/fil...ev01_04_21.pdf Last edited by SpeedyChix; 03-13-2022 at 11:59 AM. |

Thanks SpeedyChix but the spring isn't set up yet.
The issue is in fact on the non drive side. I've made the confusion. As you can see on the last picture, there is a little "yellow thingie" which is blocking the crank. |

Is that the seal between the bearing and the crank arm? Are you using the Ekar-specific BB cups? Campy Ekar bb cups have a recess to accommodate the seal that was added for Ekar (between bearing and crank arm). Road cups won't have that recess.
Perhaps explanation here will help Video starts at bb cup info 9:00 min: https://youtu.be/Ore4CVipZE4?t=539 Last edited by SpeedyChix; 03-13-2022 at 12:37 PM. |

This might be the problem here. Initially, I used the classical road cups. When I realized that the crank arm didn't fit with the cups, I've bought Ekar specific cups but the issue is the same.
I think the joint is damaged because of what i've explained just before. I will go the bicycle store to try to fix this but i'm really pessimistic. Thanks again for your help. |

The 'Un-Official' Campagnolo Ekar thread
I doubt you’ve damaged the hirth joint, the bearing fit in the cups should be snug, especially on new parts. If there is an alignment issue with the cup, then the frame bb shell needs to be faced properly.

You can easily check the joint by putting the crank together off the bike.

Furthermore, the seal of the crank arm on the drive side doesn't look great |
