You know the moment in a horror movie when the characters are going about their business and nothing bad has happened to them yet, but there seem to be ominous signs everywhere that only you, the viewer, notice?

That’s what watching global financial markets the last couple of weeks has felt like.

Things are jittery. Bought back in a few weeks ago. One solid move, and two semi-speculative. Even-steven to date, but that was luck.

It can drop 16% or more, and I won't care! Because in the stock market world the market works in reverse of gravity, what goes down eventually goes up more.

This is true, if you have time and the means to ride it out.

We are hoping to retire early in about 10 years, and I have to say the thought of a "lost decade" is starting to weigh more heavily on my mind (it would mean that we can't retire when we want to). Not the end of the world, but not great either.

Tariffs on Mexico
5% Jun 10th, another 5% Jul 1st, then 5% for 3 months, capping at 25% "...unless and until Mexico substantially stops the illegal inflow of aliens coming through its territory,†the statement said.

Amazing how many different ways there are to shoot yourself in the foot.

Edit: Mexico should promise to stop the northbound flow of people as soon as the US stops the southbound flows of drug money and guns.

this is somewhat ahistorical. It's basically the "greater fool" theory applied to the whole market. There have been decades-long stretches of no price increases in the stock market. Which means that most managers will lose money (probably big money), and also the index funds (which didn't exist then) will lose money. Seems to me that this is possible again.

You heard it here first, hopefully this happens before November 2020..If it really tumbles another 16%, that's a sign of more serious problems than a person tweeting in his jammies..altho that's a big one(problem)...The Obama economy, 10 years of recovery, would run outta steam eventually even w/o trade wars with just about everybody and $trillion$ yearly deficits..'trade wars are good'...righto...

Say goodbye to the 'new' NAFTA....it was just a relabeled and poorly written version of the old one tho..more for the 'reality TV POTUS' than of any real use.

Tafiffs, another tax on US mainstreet...
